    So, it seems I should consider doing 2 things:

    1. convert my old vacuum cleaner into a bucket/lid setup for "small" dc;

    2. hunt for a 2 ~ 3 hp motor to improve the main dust extractor's capability.

    Go with the vacuum, putting a bigger motor the D/E will increase the velocity but not the suck as said previously, D/E are designed to move large amounts of dust & shavings from large openings and big pipes not small amounts through small pipes and openings like a vacuum.
