I used some 2 inch pool hose to connect up a Triton dust bucket. The noise created by the air over the corrugations was an incredible high pithed whine. I fiddled with shortening the hose lengths to no avail, so scrapped the whole lot of pool hose and bought some proper dust extraction hose. No more problems.

Now that you mention it, when I was sourcing stuff for my ducted system there was some very sturdy ribbed grey 2" pipe at the local Hardware, and my memory seems to think that it may have been identical. There was also some smooth walled 2" clear.

In any case, you may as well give your solution a burst - it's hardly an expensive exercise if it doesn't work.

It's not possible to see the difference between the sucking ability of corrugated and non-corrugated hose but there is a measurable difference in flow so if you can get the non-corrugated hose (Carbatech and Timbecon both have it) I would recommend using it.

In a recent post I showed the effect of corrugations

4" smooth wall flex loses ~20 CFM/m
90 mm fully corrugated ducting loses ~56 CFM/m
I would expect 4" fully corrugated to be somewhere between these two values

It also depends on what you are collecting the dust with. If it is a vacuum cleaner which uses 38 mm siam ducting then using 2" corrugated flex won't may much difference because the flow rate will already be very low.

I used a similar hose and had the same problem. Bit like a high pitched whine. Only does it when sucking air only. If there is wood chips moving in the line or you restrict the flow then the noise goes away. I posted this thread back when I made it.

I intend to use a vacuum which will take a 2" hose. Don't even know what make it is but it works well.

I'd like to put it outside the shed which is why I was considering the drainage hose. I want the vacuum well away from the shed door to combat any residual dust coming back in so conventional extraction hose will be a bit expensive.

I think I might just try the drainage hose and see how it works.

Based on what you say above it seems you are interested in collecting more than just chips. However, despite what some people claim on this forum, the human eye cannot tell if a dust collector or VC is working properly. If you really want to know how well it is working I my be able to measure your VCs effectiveness with a particle counter. PM me if you are interested.

I used the 'grey water' corrugated hose from bunnies on my cyclone and as posted above, the scream was terribly loud. Louder than the shopvac. Being used for extraction it went away.
As I was cleaning up I ended up sticking some masking tape down the throat of the hose just as a temporary measure until I found something else affordable. I would save your money or buy someone 'non rigid'
