    Default Dust sensor?

A friend of mine sent me this link Australia | Capacitance point level switch for powdered and fine-grained solids Nivector FTI26 | E-direct

Im thinking it could be used in my extractor collection drum to let me know when it's getting full. Anyone used it of something similar? It seems quite expensive though, maybe an alternative is available? Thanks gurus.

A low cost bin level sensor gets lots of interest on US forums. From SMC:

An inexpensive dust bucket saw dust level sensor new cheaper parts

The Timbecon unit says it uses a sensor that is is designed to be mounted on the underside of the lid of two stage dust collection system, "perpendicular to the deepest area of your bin, and away from the central dust vortex". I assume this makes it unsuitable for cloth bag collection setups?

The display sensor lights up with various colours dependent on saw dust depth; green, then orange, then red/blue when the sawdust 10cm from the top of a bin. In general I would recommend emptying the bin well before the sawdust reaches the red/blue level. For DCs and cyclones to efficiently separate fine dust from the dust stream the bins should be emptied when the sawdust levels are no more than about 2/3rd full. for 60cm deep bin this translates to first orange on the Timecon sensor. For 90cm tall bin this would be somewhere between second green and orange.
