    Colin the Vicmarc dealer here in Canada has done exactly that. He had one for himself before getting them on his website. Woodworking Lathes, Dust Collectors and Turning Tools | Branches to Bowls

    Perhaps a reason you don't find a middle ground is once a DC has a cyclone, bin and better filters added to make to the minimums needed to be decent the price has to jump accordingly.

    The CV distribution business was not a burden to me as I never sold enough to make it a full time gig. If you want to chat more about it I think that would be best done by PM & email but I can assure you it is worth pursuing as all the hard work on motors and power supply has already been done.
