Default New extraction system at Men's Shed

Haven't been to my local Men's shed for a while due to work and home maintenance commitments so decided to attend the monthly meeting today.
They are putting in a new Extraction system - 10 HP - with filter bags and large garbage bin collectors. Unit will be 3.6m high.
Still in discussion with the leaser re location - inside or outside (shed's preference is outside for both noise and loss of room) , and exhaust vent direction and build.
Haven't had a look at all the details but it's costing BIG MONIES! even with a grant.
Be good to get rid of all the individual systems between machines

I would have thought deep and hard about using a system that has bags but it will be interesting to see how this works out. I always wonder how men's sheds get away with some of the systems that are used.

I had to do a runner soon after the meeting so didn't get to look at the system on paper or talk to the guys that did the investigation and choosing.
Should have more time in a couple of weeks as I'll be on holidays

I agree. It's one things to have to empty bags and clean filters every 3-4 even 5 months like I do, and another doing this at least every week like might need to be done at a mens shed.

My experience with Corrimal is that the cyclone bin is emptied at the end of each day but they have a fairly large operation so that may not be necessary in every location. This became mandatory after they had a few bin full incidents when the cyclone first went in.

Probably missing the word "spectacular" before 'incidents' if it was anything like i have seen when things go wrong with collection bags on a dust collection system.

Sorry, no picture taken at the time, too damn dusty!

Bicton Men's Shed checks the bin at the beginning of each session and empties it at the end. We have a manometer on the exhaust to indicate "incidents".

The new extraction system is now being installed. The main unit (BIG) is in place with the common manifold running the length of the shed. The unit is 10 hp and has internal filters with "shakers" for want of a better name. The base of the unit has two large wheeled bins attached which are simply disconnected and wheeled out to be emptied. There will be manual blast gates on each machine. The system can handle up to 60% of all gates open with no degradation of performance
Meant to get some photos but forget as I was excited about my purchase of one of their now obsolete pleated filter extractors
The shed will be closed until the new year so the installation can be finished and the machines installed in their new places. Will be heaps of more room with all the individual extractors gone.

I've often wondered about those huge drops.

Does the sawdust/chips ever not get entirely raised and simply fall back down when it's deactivated?

This is seen with household vacuum machines, vacuum the house and when turned off down come all the paper clips, Lego and marbles....

    Don't forget the 10HP impeller!
