    Default Extractor update

It has been a few years since I had my 4kw baghouse unit. thought its time to upgrade.

bought a pristine condition 2nd hand Nederman S750 from the supplier, 7.5kw motor. came with 3 bins

    7000m3/hr @2800pa @3000 rpm

hopefully this will make my workshop cleaner.

don't close all the work shop doors with it on, you might implode the shop space

They are an excellent unit, worked at a place with one once, it was a beast.

am yet to plug it in. been a busy weekend.

I am still trying to comprehend the suction power.

7000m3/hr at 2800pa (almost 300mm of water!) at 3000rpm is impressive, if I get a VFD and have the motor at higher RPM I can get more suction out of it,.....will I suck the whole shop into the extractor? lol

finally got around to remove the old extractor, move in the new, wiring, and modify existing ducting to suit new.

I have noticed significant extraction improvement, especially with narrow passages/small connections. not so much improvement at the larger ports say 150mm, but the chips moves a lot faster than before.

Fine dust accumulated within the dust bags. 100mm thick over 2.4m x 1.2m

Not ideal it will do. the inlet size is 315mm.

    Have a confession to make.

I didnt check the fan rotation before, when I wired it up, the extractor was "extracting" so I thought I got it right first time, it was very loud though, like an airplane taking off, I thought its what it is... no way it's wired wrongly cos it would be like a fan blowing the other way, right?

used my wide belt sander over the weekend. clearly something is not right. thought I better rewire the 3 phase connection.... switch it on... noise probably reduced by 5db, and the huge improvement of the extraction, BOY. I have to be very careful about what I put close to the extraction hood, it almost sucked up a 19mm wrench, almost like a vacuum but with a nozzle being 150mm dia.
