    Default Filter keeps blowing off

So I have my new set up which is working well. Except a few times on the weekend, the filter on top of my extractor kept lifting up. I had one of those band clamps around it, but it really isn't secure enough.

The bottom of the filter (the rubber ring) is tapered. This is pretty awful design as the band clamp only really applies pressure on the top portion of it which isn't nearly enough given the increased back pressure of my system.

So, keen for any thoughts and ideas on how to better secure this.

    Cheers,
    Af.

The greatest pressure should be experienced when the filters are clogged so keeping the filters clean is probably a start.

What about a photo or 2 so we can see things in a bit more detail?

If all else fails you might have to go for something like this.

Thanks Bob. It's a bit hard to see in pics but here it is. The filter has a large rubber ring around it. The bottom half which sits around the dusty (the part with the bag underneath) is tapered. It sits solidly and snugly.

You can see in this image that the strap is sliding off the bottom of this taper. This happened even after I cleaned the filter and just ran the machine for 30 minutes or so. It's even difficult to get the strap to sit on this rubber properly anyway.

OK - its as I suspected and very similar to what I have seen on before on some DCs.

    Did you understand my drawing?

A metal ring/band that goes around the mesh filter cover with a clamp arrangement.
The mesh will easily withstand the pressure needed to hold the ring/band firmly.

The 3 screw down clips similar to the 2 I show on the sides of the drawing above.

Bob, do you (or anyone else for that matter) know where to get said "bands" for filter canisters, or do you make them? A friend of mine was complaining about his band no longer fitting properly after he upgraded from a bag to a canister filter and I happened to see this post. Thanks. Lucky

I have made some of my own bands, see here https://www.woodworkforums.com/f200/school-dc-issues-187759

I've found that the band on mine is not as snug as it might be and sometimes slips off. In my opinion the band lets the whole thing down - it's cheap cr@p
looks to be the same after market pleated as yours

I've been thinking of modifying the original (not quite long enough) so it fits
