Aussie, (for fear of using SWMBO's ebay account to ask the seller a question and therefore alerting her that I want to spend more money and incur her wrath) what suburb, if you know, is the seller located in?

Let us know if the ebay seller is telling the truth once you get it and how good it is in reality. Some are quite full of ???? and will say anything to get a sale .
Hmm at basically $10-$20 difference it might even been worthwhile to just wait for aldi to stock them again as they most likely will. You get easy warranty access and you can try it out and if you don't like bring it back. Of course no one knows 100% when aldi will stock it again or when so... I really like the power takeoff function though. Doing some wood work atm and could really use a vacuum solution. I hate sweeping up the dust at the end of the session.

Happy to list as many as you guys need. Everything will be sent natonwide by Startrck express

Distributor for the Aldi unit is in Essendon area if that helps anyone. I will be contacting them about a stock of filter cartridges. Find that the carts clog easily on any of the cart filter units, and although you can brush them clear and backblow them with an air nozzle, the do get progressively worse over time. Nasty if the unit runs well for years but the carts disapear of the market.

Aussie, if I can't find one at the local Chirnside park store, then I'll be up for one. I let you know in the morning after I give them a ring. Was going to ring this arvo but I forgot.

I has a dig around EBay Oz, and there are a variety of vendors for this type of vac - prices run from the usual $1 up to $70 or so, and shipping runs from $20 to $50 - not surprisingly the most expensive shipping has the lowest 'bid' price.

Dear Aussie,
I've just had a quick read of this page on "Buyer Protection" from PayPal's website:
and it sounds to me like you've got to give the seller 7 days to deliver, before instigating a dispute (but must instigate such dispute within 45 days of payment). So just wait and see... But it does sound like it qualifies for an "Ex-Gratia" payment from PayPal if the thing doesn't show up...
It's hard as a bloke to not take this sort of krap personally, hey? But it might still turn out okay.
Good Luck.
Batpig.
P.S. I wonder if you could call StarTrack tomorrow, and see if they've got anything with your name and address on their records...Last edited by Batpig; 26th June 2008 at 10:00 PM. Reason: Just added the P.S.
