I've got the Aldi vac but I must say for floor space and versatility reasons I've got a hankering to change it over for a Hoover wall mount garage vac. although it's twice the price.

Here is a link to a thread on these vacs started by Batpig a while ago.
Mine continues to work like a champion. Just remember these will not capture really fine dust but work as well as any other non-hepa vac out there. I recommend you buy bags to put in them (see other thread).

Noticed that in my weekly Aldi email, but sure enough someone had already posted here....
Think I'll have a go this time around.
Does this thing have enough suckification (thankyou George Bush....) for use on routers, sanders, etc.?
Any comments from people who bought this vac last time around? Are they all still going strong, or have any exploded in a ball of flame? It has a 12 month warranty, so keep the receipt somewhere safe, eh?

Kmart sold what looked like the same item (same design, different colour) a couple of years back under the Arlec brand & I've got one of them. Used it for the past 2-3 years as a general shop vac and for sander & router, works really well, as long as you remember to knock all the dust out of that filter every once in a while.

I use mine on sanders and routers as well as the router table (top) as well as vacuuming the floor, works like a charm.
Still going strong, highly recommended.

Just bought my new workshop vacuum cleaner earlier this week, and have used it to do the floor and the shelves, so can't take it back. Couldn't wait any longer for the Aldi one, , oh well only about $50 out of pocket,

This looks great, can't wait to give it a try.
Thanks to the deluge we had yesterday (280mm between 9.00 and 6.00pm) I think it will get a trial as a wet vacuum before it gets down to the shed.
Mind you with 3 inches of water through the shed yesterday, I'll be cleaning up there for weeks now.
And these things sell out fast, I'd say the forum has something to do with that. I was at Aldi at Chermside at 8.30am this morning and I managed to get the last one they had, the checkout person said guys had been buying them two or more at a time.
Thanks for the heads up.
