I have had 3 metres of stiff flexible then 3 metres of super flexible on my table saw. The flow difference is minuscule.

As I said there won't be much much difference using a 2HP DC and even slightly restrictive machinery ports.

You said for 100mm hose. No mention of the 160mm I use.

The degree of flexibility of the PU I bought is not significantly different than the standard PVC I currently use. I'm interested to know why the performance of flexible pipe might differ from stiffer types. Of course a straight run of any pipe will result is less turbulence regardless of its flexibility. Surely the efficiency is dictated by the run of the pipe and minimising changes of the direction of airflow.

I think what Chris is saying is that if you have the grunt, some inefficiencies can be tolerated as long as the dust is still evacuated effectively.

I can vouch for good dust control. As an apprentice cabinet maker many years ago no provision was made for dust or spray painting. Now I only have to go in to shed for no time at all just for a minor job and have a coughing fit big time. [this is just from residual dust in shed]

There are many types of PVC and PU flex. Some PVC eg the stuff form carbatech is quite flexible but the stuff supplied a few years ago by Timbecom was definitely stiffer and HDPE flex (unfortunately very exxy) is stiffer still.
