Default HEPA filter for Shop Vac?

Hi, I have a Shop Vac Classic 30 vacuum and am looking for a supplier of HEPA filters. Shop Vac Australia quoted $54 for a single one - the vacuum cleaner itself cost only $90. Has anyone found a more economical alternative supplier, or a compatible filter?

I imported my from Lee Valley. It's about half price. But the airfreight could balance out the cost savings.

    So,
only order from Lee valley when you are ordering other items from them.

Default HEPA's are a severe case of Overkill!

I'm a consulting engineer in the a/c and ventilation field and only ever use HEPA filters when I'm designing systems for operating theatres, pharmaceutical manufacturing, where bio hazzards are involved or other clean room applications.

It maybe that these "HEPA" filters are not actually the high efficiency filters used professionally and are in fact a misnomer.

Typically, HEPA's have a very high resistance to air flow and will quickly clog in a workshop environment. They are NOT washable or cleanable.

    Agree.
I don't think the "HEPA" sold for vacuum cleaners are true HEPA either.
I had built a mini cyclone before the shopvac to prevent the "HEPA" from clogging up.
"Shop Vac HEPA Cartridge Filter for High Efficiency Particulate Air filtration that's 99.97% efficient down to 0.3 microns. Use for dry pickup only. "

Before I bought the "HEPA", I used the more expensive "dry-wall" filter bags from ShopVac (Spec claimed 95% down to 0.1 micron) . They are much better than the standard Vacuum bags.
    ordered from:

A mini cyclone + shopvac "dry-wall" filter bags would be fine as well.
