Default Homemade Cyclonic Dust Collector to replace a Triton Dust Bucket

I was very inpressed with Chris from Canberra's detailed notes on his "HomeMade Cyclonic Dust Collector" to replace Triton Dust Bucket,
    I thought I'd have a go.
It's way cheaper option than the "Dust Deputy DIY Kit from Carbitec".
I scored the 15lt metal paint tin from a mate and had the 20lt plastic bucket already [scrounger from work days].
The funnel was picked up at Supercheap Coffs Harbour on a trip north for about $8.00.
The 1"BSP plastic nipples, the 25mm PVC eblow, coupling & pipe were way under $10.00 from the "rabbit hutch".
The builders bog plus bolts were in my kit.
The only real cost was time & effort which are mine anyhow.
Using the basics of Chris's assembly notes I made a few adjusts for a number a different measurements and was well on my way.
I added a "sign glass" out of 2mm clear polycarbonate on the metal paint tin plus added a directional piece of pipe on the end of the inlet elbow.
Long & short; it works a treat, giving me about 50% more suction at the furtherest pickup point.
It has so much suction that the top of the plastic bucket is pulled down by some 5mm as the vacuum cleaner starts drawing air through the Cyclonic Dust Collector; I was very pleased for the additional notes from Chris suggesting a strengthener across the top of the lid [I used 5mm MDF the width of the lid x 100mm secured with 4 bolts & a strip of builders bog along each side].
    I've attached a few photos.
Again, thank you Chris for sharing your working notes.
    Cheers, crowie

PS - No more Triton Dust Bucket filter blockages with the fine dust.

Great job Crowie. This is something I've been thinking about doing for a while. I've got a few empty plastic buckets around and will give it a go. Where was the original link for this please? Thanks

Scott, I started this whole trend of years ago by making the original Triton dust bucket conversion. The link to the original thread is in the Best of the Best

I have the Triton dust bucket conversion as well as two others made only from paint drums in the shop so if you want to have a look at them you're welcome to come and have a look. Should only take you a couple of hours to built one.

    Peter.
