    Default Large Industrial ventilation fan

Yesterday I visited two WA country Men's sheds.
The aim was to provide advice to the Dunsborough Mens Shed on upgrading their DC system,

First off was a short visit at Busselton Mens Shed where I met a small team from the Dunsborough Mens Shed to look at the Busselton Shed's DC system. Big 7.5 Leda system in an external Enclosure. Full galvanises ducting system. Virtually all machines connected via 4" duct/ports which served as a good example of what not to do.

Then onto the Dunsborough shed where they had the usual gaggle of 2 and 3HP DCs, each connected to a few machines inside their shed. Good bunch of blokes with more than enough interested and skilled members to understand their dust problems and do something serious about it. I provided the usual advice so they can now plan a better system.

It turns out they had already seen my video on dust and had gone ahead and purchased a large (50") "Poultry house ventilator" which they plan to install high up on a tall (4.5m) wall.

Louvred/weatherproof openings, 3HP (15A) motor, SS steel blades.
No die of the flow rate but there was a veritable gale at about 2mn when they turned it on.
    Cost was $1200 Including delivery!

A bit loud for my liking (I will get the dB rating from them) but this is going to less of a problem high up on the wall of a large shed.

It's a pity its not available with a 3P motor, as the first thing I would do is put a VFD on it as it is likely to be MUCH quieter at slightly lower revs and still provide substantial ventilation.

I have a portable 30"/760mm fan to do stuff like that but it is no match for the one Bob is showing. It is something like this and they go on sale often for even less. 30 in. High Velocity Drum Fan | Princess Auto I'm pretty sure you have them too.

Bob I know the agricultural versions can be had in single, 2 or 3 and variable speed models so would guess that beast might be available like that too. You guys are fortunate that you have a warm enough climate that moving air in and out of the shed is possible. Yes a little weather envy on my part.
