Thread: Makita 58mm hose connection

I bought a faulty Makita 447M vacuum. It's an expensive bit of kit new so after a simple repair it was quite a bargain. However, it came without a hose and the proper replacement is twice what I paid for the vacuum !

I can find lots of people selling hose adapters but they all seem to be for the business end, to adapt various manufacturer's hoses to power tools. What I'd like to find is an adapter to connect a cheap Numatic or other hose to the 58mm Makita port.

Failing that, I think I can 3D-print one. But I'd like to know a bit more about the 58mm fitting from someone who has a similar machine.

The vacuum port doesn't seem to be tapered at all, but what about the fitting ? Does it fit tightly or is it mostly held in place by the vacuum ?
Would you mind making a couple of accurate measurements of the diameter or circumference at each end of the fitting ?

If I can print a successful design I'll put the details up on Thingiverse for anyone to copy.
