Default Makita VC410M wet/dry vacuum improvements

A few months ago I purchased a fairly expensive Makita 42L wet/dry vacuum to replace the poor filtering Ryobi vacuum i've had for 6 years from Bunnings.
It's been great so far but one thing I was cautious about is the motor cooling inlet had a pretty poor diffuser and there was already fine dust getting past the 'filter' and into the motor. I had a look in the user manual and found this

"To protect the electronics and motor, the machine isequipped with a cooling air diffuser. Clean the cooling air diffuser regularly. For areas with a high concentration of fine dust inthe surrounding air it is recommended to equip themachine with an optional cooling air filter cartridge toprevent dust from settling inside the air channels andmotor. Contact your local sales representative."

I went to Adelaide tools and they ordered in a filter to replace the 'air diffuser'. I'm much happier now and i'm perplexed why makita wouldn't include this from factory as most of the people i know use these in dusty environments.

Just posting this in case others have a similar model and may be interested in protecting their pricey vacuum.

    easy.... cost.

the vaccuum now "appears cheaper" as they've taken that cost off the price, and you know have to keep buying filters so they make more money from parts.

Not only will a filter protect the electronics and motor but it will also protect you. The motor acts a bit like a mincer and turns small amounts of medium-fine dust into even finer dust,
