    Default Menzshed dust extraction upgrade.

I have finally been given the go ahead to upgrade the dust extraction system at my Menzshed.
I have been making suggestions and dropping hints for a few years and it has finally paid off.
I gave a presentation at a committee meeting and really gave them chapter and verse about the risks from dust and the pitfalls of the current system which has most of the machines on 100mm lines.

The extractor has plenty of suck, being 5.5hp and 17” impeller and starts with 300mm ducting but reduces to 100mm lines to each machine.
I will be replacing all the 100mm line with 150mm DWV and fitting Auto blast gates and opening up all the machine ports to 150mm with bell mouth housings. The blast gates will have switches to start the extractor when each machine is started.

The dust extractor is in an outside shed and the first job was to put an extra door in the enclosure for easier access to the back of the extractor.

I will keep posting as I make progress.
    Cheers

Amend that to 5.5Kw for the dusty motor, 7.5Hp

Should be good to fit a VFD.

That’s a good sized Dusty, I thought mine was pretty big at 5HP.

You will enjoy the Auto Blast Gates, they would have to be the best investment I have made in my shed

Not much progress lately. Still waiting on blast gates. Put another door on the extractor shed for easier access to change bags and clean up.
