Default Metal drum for cyclone set up

Looking at a cyclone setup for the little shop vac (just general tidy-up stuff. Was trying to find a metal drum around 30-40L with removable lid I could use and not finding any.

Anyone had any luck finding them and where? I am in Brissie but let me know what and I can search for similar up this way.

    Thank you.

15 and 20 litre ring lock paint tins work really well. You don't need anything bigger.

I have a 20 Litre paint tin under the cyclone that I bought from Aldav some time ago. Works fine but just remember to check it regularly if doing a lot of work.

Thanks folks didn’t think of paint tin. One I was thinking a bit bigger and two was it didn’t cross my mind.

And another to go with it. Bang for buck cyclone itself. What are you using? Home made or shop bought?

I went a different route and ditched the bin under the cyclone altogether when I saw the Dust Deputy Bagger that LeeValley started to sell. I already had a ClearVue CV06 mini cyclone so I made up my own version. I use a 3mil thick, 30 gallon, contractor bags with the whole thing on a cart so it is bigger than the one LV sells. What I like is once full I remove the bungees tie off the bag and off it goes to the landfill. Should you decide to make your own version select a readily available thick bag. A thin one can get holes in it before you get them filled. I usually change the big ones I use when they get half full as they get heavy and awkward by then.

The ones that you can buy are so cheap and work so well I don't know why anybody would make one.
This model is excellent - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/404758164818
or, the latest model - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/266645654774
They're both from the same Chinese manufacturer. You want one of the models with 50mm ID inlet and outlet, designation is SN50. Make sure you mount them directly on to the metal, no spacers either above or below the cyclone outlet. You may find either of them cheaper with a bit of a search on Ebay, Banggood or Aliexpress.

Just might have to go this way as finding a metal 20-30l drum is proving a tad difficult.

A plastic bin will also work fine.

It will collapse if you block the intake, but so will a metal bin. The plastic bin will most likely be fine though. The metal bin, not so much!
