Default Micronair, anyone used their machine?

I am looking at possible upgrade to my dust extraction, was looking at Felder RL series, the dealer who I usually buy my machinery from suggested Micronair

Anyone has one setup in their workshop? any issues that I need to be aware of?

    Absolutely!

For that kind of money you could get the Clear Vue Max that will suck start a whole fleet of Jumbo Jets as well as the ducting and a VFD and have change left over. My research indicates the Clear Vue is the pick of the crop in terms of performance, but I own one, and I love it, so I am biased.

The other advantage with the Clear Vue is a tiny footprint. It takes up only about 700mm X700mm of floor space.

Finally, the dust separation in the Clear Vue cyclone is so good it does not need filters if you vent it outside. Voila! No filters to clog, restrict air flow or to clean.

    Works for me.

For that price you could get 2 clearvues and never have to be worried about filters again.

I think their marketing campaign to Men's Sheds is doomed to failure, as a matter of fact I am sure of it.

Got a 15kw Micronair at work and it'll suck your eyeballs out, but I think their extractors are more targeted towards industrial setups with lots of machines hooked up; we have 1x8", 1x6", 4x4" and 2x3" pipes constantly on-line with no problem, with another 8", 2x6" and 2x4" as needed.

I wouldn't go Micronair for a home workshop

    Thanks for that Elanjacobs.

The MicronAir units are too high anyway, even the smallest one.

I probably will go for the Felder RL series as its under 2m and are mobile.

A friend of mine has a new RL200.
Lots of air but that is normally duct size limited anyway so it's kind pointless hanging a jet engine off a 4" ducting.
I was also not that impressed by the filters which were not even as efficient as a needlefelt bag on a hobby level DC.
These industrial units just aim to meet the Aussie industrial standard of 1mg/m^3 but this is above European standards and does not take particle sizes into account.

    Good Morning Albert

Bob is much too modest to blow his own trumpet, but the two attachments may be illustrative.

I would rather listen to Bob than most salesmen.

Thanks for that Bob, I have and still reading Bill Pentz's research article, I may want to enlarge the 4 inch port on my sliding table saw to 6 inch, the port itself is plastic, not sure if this is possible or economically feasible as the saw has some 4 inch internal piping.

I cant do anything to the thicknesser planer dust chute, its metal and If I want to enlarge it, I will have to cut it with a grinder, re-weld the chute and spray paint it.

you've made a comment on the RL's filter were not as efficient as a needlefelt bag on a hobby level DC, this meaning more frequent cleaning is required?

Would you recommend the cyclone type over RL extractor? the RL series can be used Euro schools, not sure about the cyclone?
