    if you block the inlet will you have to swap your bin with the neighbour's ??

    90 mm stormwater ducting @ 6" WC pulls ~275 CFM,
    - 25% losses from chip collector, plus tightly coiled flex and junctions.
    Should pull a whopping 200 CFM !

    Nah they have one of those new Big green ones. I tried it but the chips would almost make it up the pipe but fall back down into the machine.

    perhaps a real Heath Robinson would add a blower fan at the inlet

    Not that an enormous improvement would be made but if you lift the motor impeller up so the inlet to the dc (I didn't capitalize because it's tiny and cute ) was at the same level as the lid elbow you would be eliminating two of the elbows you have now. Your other option would be to cut the concrete floor and make a little pit for the barrel to sit in. Then you straighten the run to your saw and improve it too.

    Oh Bob you know it's very hard to maintain straw suction when ripping long boards unless you have the lungs of a Tibetan Sherpa.
