    Default My overhead dust collection

After spending 4 and a bit grand on a SawStop Table saw I couldn't afford or justify the 200+bucks for a overhead dust collector, (hell they didn't even give me a SS cap), Its all home made out of perspex sheet that I had lying around. I wanted to get the perspex bent in a U shape but the company I went to wanted to charge me A$22 per bend, I was after having another piece bent as well for a router jig but they lost that sale as well, so I put together the shroud myself, . Pics 1 - 1 and 3 show the shroud in position. Pic 4 shows shroud in action, the wood pushes and lifts the side panels but stays in contact with the wood to help keep it all enclosed. Pic 5 shows the front view with the split front gate for cutting smaller pieces. Pics 6 - 7 and 8 show the collector lifted up out of the way and undoing the 2 toggle clamps I can remove it (pic 8) if it gets in the way.

    Nice job.

FWIW for maximum fine dust extraction the optimum position for the exit port on a TS OH hood is towards the front of the blade. Air flow is vastly improved by leaving the back of the hood completely open.

    Thanks BobL,

Because its all put together with tapped holes and socket head screws I can re do the top plate with the exit port at the front and a couple of 45 degree fittings to re align the dust tubes to match up.
