Powermatic pm75
I am looking at replacing my made in china knock off dusty. I am leaning towards the pm75 by Powermatic or the DC1900. Does anyone have or used these machines. I know their pricey but I am not looking to buy another for a long time. Old brand, good quality. I may look at running 6 or 8 inch ducting as far as I can to machines then reducing to their ports.

Well, I have a Jet DC-1200C. The fit and finish is nicer than the regular knock offs but frankly I don't think it makes any difference in terms of service, parts availability and function.
For example, I damaged my impeller and fan housing. Because I bought before the advent of Jet Australia there were model design and specification changes. If it had been a DC-1200 (sans C), no problem, parts would have been in stock locally.
One of my reasons for buying the "premium" product was long term parts and service. Unfortunately it didn't work out entirely that way.
However, I did find someone useful in Jet Australia that assisted me in getting the right parts. It just took three months to get here by sea. Still, I got what I needed.
On another dealing with Jet Australia, I tried to buy the low-profile riving knife for my Powermatic PM-2000. Not available in stock. Same with other accessories such as throat plates. I ended up buying what I needed in the US and making throat plates.
You can make up your own mind about those experiences.
Still, the PM2000 is a beautiful machine and I do not regret buying it.
Dust collectors are not precision machines. I would just buy the cheapest that suited my needs next time.
Have you considered the cyclone packages from Carbatec?

I bought the "cheapest and most powerful" i could. $480 2300cfm (supposed) 3 hp motor lasted 14 months, no replacement motor in Australia to match. So I am looking for quality. I have Carba-tec stuff, I have trouble with them all, finish specs, adjustability, accuracy. Thanks for your experience and information, duly noted.

I am also looking for a DC system and went over to Gregories Machinery (Jet) for a chat and get some info.
Ther seems to be a large difference in price for what seems to be machines made in the same factoy. Is this correct?..or are they made in different countries and different quality.
eg.
Hare & Forbes DC-7 $517.00
Jet DC1900 $980.00
Carbatec seems to be closer to Jet prices
Are H&F worth the cheaper money or are they not as good a build.
Cheers

The cheaper versions are over rated on their cfm usually. I am just tired of buying cheap and having to replace it.Darren Jensen

I know what you mean about buying the cheapest and regretting it later. At least if I buy Jet from Gregories, they are just 10 mins away on the other side of the Hwy and I can pester them better if something goes wrong.
I have had some good service from them so may as well stick. It is just that when something is $100 difference on a $1000 item, it doesn't phase me but diff of $517 - $980 had me having to question the difference.
Maybe at the WWW show in Brisbane , I can get a couple of company speils on the difference.

Re: Powermatic pm75
Well, I did it. Went to Brissy show, got a good price from Gregorys and bought the Pm75 dusty. Just have to wait to get shed wired for 15amp. What a solidly built machine.
