    Default Powtran Problem

I have had a Powtran P19100 running a CVMax since 2015, 1Ph input, output basically at 50Hz, without any problems. Only thing I ever had to do (early on) was 'slow down' the deceleration phase to avoid the relevant error code.

On startup yesterday however, the VFD fan came on, but the set frequency wouldn't display, and there was no response to pressing any key. Same thing today.

I've attached a photo of the display. Don't know why it's sideways.

Can't seem to find what this means in the manual. Is this user fixable?

    Cheers, and thanks for help.

It looks like the display is not communicating with the VFD. Might just be a faulty display.
Pop the display out and blow it down to clear any dust.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

I had quick look at the manual and cant see anything related to that output either.

When you say "start up" do you mean "starting the motor" or just "turning on the mains power to the VFD"?

If the former I would first perform a factory reset and re-enter the parameters.

If the latter I would refer to Powtran for advice ([email protected])
The person that reads that email is Nicole and communicates in English well.
She should refer it onto an engineer for advice.

NCArchers comment is worth considering as there seems to be some dust on the display.
Remove the display and GENTLY blow ACROSS the contacts with some compressed or vac out the contacts and replace the display

There is a plastic bridge piece behind the screen which can be pulled out after the control panel is removed. Perhaps the contacts on that could be a problem and or the contacts the bridge piece connects with. Some contact cleaner might be an idea if all else fails. I have a spare unused bridge piece if the problem is in that, another check might be to remove the bridge piece and connect the panel to the VFD with a cat5 or 6 cable.

Thank you all for your replies.

Bob, it is indeed after simply turning on mains power to the VFD. If Tony's and Chris's suggestions don't work, I'll email Powtran. Thanks for the contact details.

Tony and Chris, I'll follow up your advice this morning and report back. I have a cat5 cable so can try removing the bridging piece too.

No luck with cleaning contacts, or replacing the bridge with a cat5 cable, so will email Powtran.

Will post followup/outcome in due course, in case that helps someone else with a similar problem down the track.
