    Default pre filter for vacuum

    Anyone use something like this?
    YouTube

Already have a cyclone but life would be easier if I also didnt have a bag in the vac.

I thought another option is to cut a bag open and tie it around the filter

Lappa uses a bag of that style over his filter element. It was discussed recently in this thread - ShopVac, Aldav’s cyclone, Bushmiller’s bucket and a Spring Clean.

They work great. You buy them from bunnies.
They are called Powerfit Cloth Pre-filter.

PowerFit Cloth Pre-Filter | Bunnings Warehouse

Despite what others may say they DO NOT reduce the airflow by any significant amount (I have measured)
They can be washed and reused.

I saw the bunnings one just couldnt find it on the website to link. My concern was that it was small = smaller surface area and was worried about airflow or load on the motor but if its all good I will get one

Thanks for that Lappa, I've been looking at ways to minimise the amount of crud that gets stuck in the pleated filter in my DeWalt cordless vacuum, that looks the ticket to help me avoid buying the exorbitantly priced replacement filters, whilst I work up to knocking up a dust bag attachment for it

Just an update I bought the one from bunnings and tried it. When you are sanding it clogs up pretty bad and you have stop to clean it regularly. Also, the really fine particles just get through it and hits the filter. Not worth buying IMO

I put mine through a cyclone then the VC. Only fine dust on the orange bag and next to nothing in the pleated filter.
