Default Putting on bags giving you the $hits?

Well, a mate (Corbs) joined in an email conversation I was having with some mates (from here) and he dropped a solution I simply have to share.

Don't have 8 arms to keep the DC bag in place while ALSO placing the strap?

Magnets! Hold the bag in place with a couple of small magnets!

Then put the belt/strap on after having adjusted the height of the bag.

    Simplicity itself.

    All praise Corbs.

I've got 6 of these on the dusty. Make it real easy. No swearing, guaranteed.

I was using gaff too (it'll work once if you're lucky) until groeneaj put me onto the magnet trick. Trouble is, the only magnets I had that were strong enough were too strong, and buggers of things to get back off.

I like the look of those clip magnets Tony - even better.

My DC doesn't have those clippy outer metal straps but uses stiff flat plastic rings. The bags are folded over the rings which are then collapsed inwards and then snap back outward into place locking the bags up against the inside of the filter housing.

Of course the best sort of filter bag is a cyclone which uses no bag at all.

Yeh I hve not had the need for years no because both my current dusties have retaining clips to hold the bag up while you get the strap on.

But my previous machines I most certainly used magnets.....I pulled mine out of old security reed switch assembiles.

    cheers

I use 25mm elastic in the shape of a circle. I slip it over the dust bag, then over the DC, then fasten the clip, then pull down the elastic off the bag. Done.

I use the 1/4 inch occy strap in a loop, it holds the bag and stays there after the strap goes on.
Not expensive, the same type of stuff you can buy for ute tarps in a roll.
Got mine in 3 metre lengths at a weekend market for 5 buck.

I'm having trouble picturing how this works. Any chance for a pic or two when you have a spare minute Bob?

    Thanks,
    Af.

Photo would not show much so here is a drawing.

On first appearances it looks like it would be difficult to get on/off.

To get it off, the bag near the ring is pushed firmly inwards towards the middle of the enclosure.
This forces the ring to slightly collapse inwards so it can be grabbed and pulled out.
To insert, the ring is place over the bag and collapsed slightly so it all fits inside the enclosure and then pulled back onto the enclosure.
When the ring expands if tai "snaps" into place so I reckon thy would have to be accurately made.
This design which fits the bag to the inside of the housing uses the air pressure inside the housing to further forces the ring/bag onto the housing providing a good seal.
