Thread: The big question: Sherwood 3hp" vs "Laguna C-Flux 3 series cyclone dust extractors

If you want real performance go the Laguna - it has a 200mm intake vs the 125mm of the Sherwood. I'm in Seaford if you want to come and take a look at mine.

What sort of piping do you use with that unit? Would 100mm diameter do?
I'm only using one machine at a time.
It seems to be very hard to compare the different machines to one another as the cfm seems to be unrealistic for most units. Hence the reason for my posting.

Anther unit that woud be ideal for my purpose is the Baileigh 3HP Cyclone Dust Collector DC-2100C (Link)

But I can't see that unit listed anywhere in Australia.
Anybody out there who knows where to buy that from?

I use 200mm main duct and then for the lathe I have put the 3x 100mm connector on the end of the piping and then run that to a triple Y connector fitted just behind the dust collector hood - looks a bit Frankenstein but sucks like all hell - I have to hang on the sandpaper real tight or else...

Unless you use 150mm pipe to each machine (or 3 X 100 mm pipes) you might as well not bother getting such a big DC.
Single 100mm pipes throttle only carry about 425CFM A single 150mm pipe carries 1250 CFM.
You will still need to open up each machine port to 150mm to achieve this flow.

I used the modular ducting system from Airtight in Bayswater - Modular Ducting | Dust Extraction Ducting | Airtight Solutions

Fantastic tip! I wasn't even aware of this. Previously I bought PVC pipe from Bunnings. The biggest size they sell is 100mm diameter.

Ive just bought a cflux.

Im still halfway through putting it together. So far it really does feel like a much more premium grade chinesium. The manual is terrible (like most of carbatecs own brands ones as well). And so far it feels like it was a good design then it was passed onto the chinese factories to under go a "manufacturing cost reduction exercise".

That being said, most of the owners on here have commented on how well it performs and i can see this doing the same. I honesltly feel like im going to do it a disservice by reducing it down to 150mm straight from the intake.


Chase up through sherwood and find out the impellor size. I emailed them ages ago about it and no one ever got back to me.

Ah yes - you need to find the youtube assembly video. BTW I believe that these are from Taiwan not China - please don't start an international incident!
