Ahaaa.....that sounds simple enough. Is the safety switch a magnetic switch? Didn't realise that was the way it worked. I guess it is just unscrew one and replace it?

    Thanks I'll try it

Default Many thanks NCArcher and BobL

Got back from the trip and ordered an RF remote GPO from HK because I could not find an Oz supplier whose remote device was small; like a typical garage door opener.

Wired it up tonight. Did not have a 12 or 24 V power pack so went for the 240 V option. Thanks to the guidance from BobL and NCArcher it was a piece of cake ... works like a bought one.

Joints all soldered now. Tomorrow I'll make a small ply box to house the relay ... 2000 hrs is a bit late to be turning on noisy woodworking machines.

I am as happy as a pig in a wallow. The remote will go on a lanyard so it is always on me, and I can control the cyclone from anywhere in the shop.

I do love this forum. It provides a brains trust that often makes life so easy.

    Thanks again, fellas!

Here is a pic of the RF remote set-up ... not that we can see much.
    IMAG0249[1].jpg
The heavy black cable is power in to the VFD from a 15 Amp GPO. The heavy grey cable is power out of the VFD to the cyclone motor. The dirty white cable connects from the remotely controlled GPO to the relay coil, and then from the relay switch terminals to the DII and COM connections in the VFD. The remote control device is hanging on the VFD by its lanyard.

When I walk into the shop I power up the VFD, hook the lanyard through a belt loop and drop the remote in my pocket.

I love it to death ... but I need to stop turning it on and off before I burn out the motor.

John, you are not going to worry about the RS interface board?

    Chris,

If that is the board to allow 2 keypads to be hooked up, then no, I will not worry about it.
