    Default Shop Vac for workshop...

I have been researching vacuum cleaners this past week as my faithful Karcher wet/dry Vac decided to die after 25 years of faithful service.

I was quickly drawn to the flashiness and hose size of the Dewalt units 38 litres and 45 litres and was on track to buy them - when overnight the
prices rose - $50 for one unit and the one I wanted - $125 overnight!

So due to my Scottish ancestry I could not cop that big of a jump. So I spent the next 5 days looking for the right unit.

I will save you all the grief of my process - suffice to say I wiggled it down to 2 units:

    SP TOOLS 1400W 40L Stainless Steel Vacuum Cleaner/Blower SP040 | Total Tools
    and
TradeTools | Huge Range, Great Service

The SP040 has a longh power cord and a long hose (3m) and a stonking CFM rating of 127 CFM which is hella strong.
The Vacmaster 1600-Watt 30 Litre L Class Wet & Dry Industrial Vacuum - VMVK1630SWC has almost as much CFM but does it with a hogher suction than the SP040.

One is 40 litres and the other 30 litres...BUT the Vacmaster is a L Class vac that traps down to 0.3 micron level particles ie soft woods. plasterboard and similar. It has a
power take off to 700 watts via a socket on the front and a hose that is crush resistant and 3.5 m long with a 6 m power cord.

I have purchased and am waiting for the Vacmaster and a chain of stores in Queensland is selling them for $319. The dealer in Sydney is selling them for $488.94

I do not know how many they have available via the tradetools website but it is a bargain with its Hepa class 13 down to 0.3 microns and includes
an adapter to connect sanders, planers etc, it seems like a pretty good deal

I hope there is a few in their stores and warehouses so you can benefit from this bargain.

see here for reviews Amazon.co.ukustomer reviews: Vacmaster WD L30 L Class 30L Dust Extractor - Wet & Dry Vacuum Cleaner - Powerful Suction with HEPA 13 Filter For Heavy Duty Cleaning, 30 Litre Tank - 1600W Twin Fan Motor, Power Take Off

Little things like the clips to attach the head to the barrel are metal not plastic.

It also has a blower function if you need it.

Was worth sharing as the L Class makes it a bit special over the other unit.

One really good thing about that vacmaster is the HEPA filter also filters the air used to cool the motor which normally acts like a mincer and turns fine dust floating around a workshop into even finer dust. This feature is usually only found on more expensive vacs.
