    Default Sound proofing DC3

Our mens shed has 2 DC3 dust extractors inside the building, we wish to put them outside to reduce noise .
Can any one suggest what type of building and sound proofing required ,we don't wish to irritate a possible

    The short answer is mass.
Solid walls and roof. With a baffle (labyrinth) around the exit to prevent sound escaping that way.
    Lots of good info here...

Mass is very important but beware that unless something like a thick concrete bunker is used, the sound may just bounce round inside the enclosure and build up until some escapes.
To reduce this effect so that not so much mass (ie expense) is required, adding a layer of sound absorber inside the enclosure should help.
The filter bags themselves appear to act as good absorber but adding some extra absorber can help.

Another important thing to consider is not to make any external cladding too flexible or it can re-radiate the sound.

FWIW my enclosure WIP is here
