Default Dust collector direct into a trailer

    Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at creating a sheep poo collection system which will use wood working dust collector components - hence posting in this forum!

Around Canberra there are lots of old wool sheds which have lots of dried poo underneath which is great for the garden, and people pay decent money for it. The problem is getting it from under the sheds and into a trailer. Buckets and shovels work ok, but some sheds are only 500mm of the ground which makes it tricky.

My plan is to use a powerful petrol vacuum system (billy goat) and a dust separator to seperate out the poo and drop it in the trailer. The cyclone will be DIY or a 5'"dust deputy or similar.

    A couple of questions -

I'm assuming the trailer needs to be fully enclosed and air tight and also be under vacuum. Is the vacuum pressure in the trailer = to the line pressure? If the pressure is slightly higher in the trailer will the poo fall down or will it fluidise and stay bubbling in the separator outlet?

The line vacuum pressure will be around 2psi/150mbar i'm guessing when stalled. The trailer cage has dimensions of 1500mm x 2700mm x 1400mm, 2PSI across this area is a huge amount of force! Equal to about 6T on the floor/ roof.

Other options is small rotary valve on the outlet, but this seems a bit complicated!

    Appreciate any comments or suggestions!

    thanks,

I don't see why you need a cyclone as it will kill the air flow and reduce the amount of stuff you can pick up.
I would just deposit the stuff direct into the trailer and cover the trailer with a couple of layers of shade cloth so the bulk air can escape.
The cyclone won't separate the really fine dust out anyway so you'll probably have to wear a mask anyway.
