My shed height is limited so could you tell me what the minimum space needed is and still have a reasonable sized collection
drum.Also what is the cost of the CV1800 kit

Both Max and 1800 are near enough to the same. The difference between both is that the Max has a 16" impeller and the housing is bigger in the diameter and has an 8" inlet against 6" for the 1800. The price for the 1800 is $2350 plus $320 for a VFD if it is needed. Personally I would not install it without the VFD either single or three phase as the VFD gives a soft start with very low current draw during the start phase and it also gives you control over speed, can be remotely controlled and the turn off time can be altered as needed.

We have an interesting installation going in at the moment at Corrimal Men's shed. They are remote controlling the blast gates to operate at each machine station as required when the machine is turned on, the cyclone is left running continuously in their case. The system will be up and running in the new year so more news then.

The height is 2342mm. Is this fixed or can the height be reduced at all? I was thinking that if so I can wall off a corner of the shed otherwise I will have to build a lean- to on the back of the shed. The specs are a bit sketchy - What is the floor area required?

I am keen to get a good workable system to remove as much fine dust as possible but even though I joined the forum several years ago I am only now able to start building a workshop and my knowledge is rather limited. Perhaps I could give you ring sometime to go into it a bit more fully.

As you have alluded to previously the height is ultimately determined by the depth of the bin. The bin can be custom built with a bigger footprint as some have done when confronted by a restriction in height. One square metre will be sufficient for floor are. The two into one transitions we now have with and without integral blast gates...

With gates they are $59, without $47. they would be good for a Bandsaw for over and under 100mm ducting into a single 150mm duct or a tablesaw for the same reason.

The transitions look well made and tidy but it would be interesting to measure the flow efficiency of these transitions - somehow they don't look all that efficient to me, but I could be wrong. Being transparent is a definite advantage in terms of checking for blockages.

Cost wise the built in blast gates could be a definite saving but IMHO if both gates were to be used with one machine (eg bandsaw) would be better to use a single 6" blast gate further back near where the 6" line leaves a main trunk line.

It may be more cost/perfromance effective to use a 6"/4" DWV Y and add a 6/4" level invert to get the second 4" port.
