    Default table saw zero inserts

Some time ago I made some zero inserts for my old table saw. They work very well, but yikes a lot of stuff stays on the top of table saw, this is where a dust overhead comes into its own T/F ?
I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

There is a fair bit of fine dust coming off the top of the blade whether you use a zero tolerance insert or not.

After I made and fitted an overhead guard, dust collection on my saw improved markedly.

Here is a link to mine, made with 10mm polycarbonate sheet bought at Bunnings. Making 150mm DC ports for workshop machines

    Hi Tony

Check out "Hooked on Wood" on youtube for his homemade ZCI.
He put air flow holes down the narrow side claiming this aided dust extraction.
    May not suit every application.
I saw the yt link but it didn't load so maybe the same one.
    Cheers

I wouldn't worry too much about the dust you can see, what really matters is the fine dust that is dragged out of the cabinet by the blade and thrown off the blade above the table. Absolutely no amount of under table extraction or holes in the throat plate can compete with the speed of the spinning blade. To grab this fine dust requires effective OH extraction. The efficiency of the oh extraction can be improved by plating the collection point as far forward as possible above the blade

i've often wondered why someone has 3d printed or cnc'd a "hex mesh" style insert, so that it is fully open but also retains some strength.

I can only assume production costs outweigh the price of making them in bulk but one off 3d prints may work out.
