Trouble at Mill, . . . . . er Shed
The supervisor from the mens shed contacted me last week to say their CVMax had all of a sudden much less such than usual.
Asked about collector drum seal etc - Nah - all good.
This morning he sent me an SMS with this attached.
He asked me if he could just patch it up with a piece of plastic and glue.
Err . . . . . No , replacement was recommended.
Interesting no one heard a thing.

Corrimal MS had the same thing happen to theirs and they repaired the wrapper and it is still running to this day. The culprit was a block of wood. There are photos of the damage and repair on their website along with an explanation of why it happened.

Thanks Chris.
At first I thought the Corrimal's shed repair would be easy because it would save dismantling the cyclone but it looks like they had to drop the cyclone anyway. In that case I wonder if it might have been better to just replace the wrapper with some polycarbonate (I assume the original is PET?) as PC has about about a 20% greater impact strength than PET.
The fly in the ointment is cost, in that I believe one would have to purchase a whole sheet of either to replace the wrapper.

The wrapper does not have to be "plastic" it could be metal such as aluminium or even steel if the bending facilities are available.

Thanks Chris.
That's also what I told the supervisor at the mens shed.
The value of a transparent cover is that one can see if something like a rag has wrapped itself onto the impeller.
That was why I added this PC viewer onto my DC impeller entry. It's not as good as a transparent impeller wrapper but it's better than nothing.
