Improving Performance of an Ambient Dust Collector
Thought some people might be interested in this video about improving the performance of Ambient Dust Collectors (a.k.a. Room Air Filters) such as the Carbatec 1700cfm Room Air Filter, or the Woodman Air Filtration System. It's a "Stumpy Nubs" video and the first in a series of videos and projects focused on Dust Collection.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR6P7VV2DUY
The next video in this series will address how to make and use a manometer to check your dust collection system. There's also an older video there about building a Cyclone System, but I haven't watched that yet, so I don't know what design of Cyclone he's used, or how big a fan/motor he used.
Anyway - I think it's worth watching the video, and maybe keeping an eye on http://www.stumpynubs.com/dust.html

Quite a good idea for someone that already has a room air filter, but for someone deciding to start from scratch, for around the same price of a CT 1700 CFM filter ($1000) and a Wynnes nano filter ($460) I think you could purchase a hospital grade HEPA room air filter that would do a better job and not take up anywhere near as much room.
By the way there is no way the CT filter moves 1700 cfm. The motor is only 1/3 HP so this figure will be for the fan performance with no filters, As soon as the filters are added and of course eventually block up the flow will drop dramatically. The sort of performance that happens in practice is like most other DCs i.e. around half the claimed figure.
