    Default Good Value Dust Extractor

Well finally got the old Carbatec 16" planner up and running, sprays the chips like a super spreader

Ive been looking at gumtree for a second hand unit I don't do a lot of planning and sawing but would appreciate some advise what to look for in a good used unit or a cheaper new unit

    Thanks

    three broad options

    1. ventilate your shed using a number of higher capacity fans (from memory BobL recommends using squirrel cage fans). The downside is noise.

    2. capture the chips in a "coarse" bag and wear appropriate PPE -- a well fitting mask is essential to protect your lungs.

    3. go "full frontal" and capture the fine (<1 micron) dust at source. For this you will need to substantially modify a 2 or 3 Hp unit.

Ian covers your options well, whats your budget?

a 2hp unit can be snapped up used for a few hundred, modifying one of these units is not very complicated just time consuming. The results are well worth it.

    I wouldn't bother with 1hp units
