    Default would this work?

Early dewalt compound sliding mitre saw.

At some stage both alloy fences were bent, so I imported from good ole USA new ones that wouldnt fit. so over past few days have been working out how to build a new fence that will finish up 2M long.
I removed the rest of the alloy fence and the curve bit supposedly to catch dust PFFFT
but how does this go for an idea.
between the 2 slots of the new timber fence is the gap for saw blade, behind that I get a piece of 150mm dia preferably 200mm dia ppvc pile high enough that it wont interfere with sliding or saw blade, stretch it slightly but on either end fit into it 100mm piece cut and beveled to meet the larger pipe shape, Both pieces would connect via a 100mm Y and then into dust blast gates.
I hop my artistic work clarifies that

That's the main problem - every time you swivel the saw left or right plus allowing for the tilting compounding angles, they all get in the way of what you are proposing.
That's why about the only solution for a permanently set up SCMS is a large hood connected to a 6" duct. The hood has to be large enough to cater for the drop, swivel and tilt.

Because of all this and the fact that my SCMShas to live under a TS wing, I went for a twin 100 mm BMH system.
    SCMS extraction.
It works but is only worth setting up if a number of cuts have to be made
For just a few cuts I just plug it into a shop vac (even that is surprisingly effective with the modified rubber scoop - see above thread) and switch on a ventilator fan. This is easily enough to cope with the fine dust but a cha scatter clean up is still needed afterward.

The main problem with SCMS extraction is nearly all DE's used in hobbyist workshops do not have the volume capacity needed to do the job properly and poor design just adds to the problems the saw presents.
