Youtube find - Convenient blast gate manual control
Interesting clip from Youtube I stumbled across regarding manual blast gate control.
Not quite sold that the effort vs reward is there and that there could be some serious refinement/improvements, but thought it was a genuine original approach to the blast gate problem.

That was indeed a very clever and elegant solution, and has me thinking. I've got a long bench with a range of smaller tools (drill press, router, belt sander, SCMS), and the most space efficient place to run the pipe is along the floor behind it, but have been considering alternatives due to not being able to access a blast gate in that configuration. A remotely operated blast gate could be an option allowing me to retain the preferred route

Will be a great advantage for my future setup, but Cosmas Bauer the dear bugga does not appear to have plans available.
My brain being where it is with tooo many projects/things happening around me cannot draw anything useful in plans.
I have googled and found nothing, but thats not to say the plans are hiding somewhere
anyone know or seen anything please.I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

If you don't need a lot maybe a few scrounged throttle controls from an old boat. Similar principles.

Well building on my brilliance. Many boats use Teleflex cables because they are a push pull arraignment like the Bowden cables the YouTube dude took from a bicycle. Motorcycles use them too, usually in the form of throttle or clutch grips. Lots of cars are using push pull cables in the gear shifts with similar cables for gas, trunk and hood latches. They are everywhere but we take them for granted. Oh I suppose jet skies and quads will have some too. We just have to look around and unlock our imaginations.

Ok defeat admitted. I have tried designing this but, considering I was tossed out of 1st year maths...'your a bl***y disruption to this class, why dont you spent time with the principal'...which I did and he admitted that maths wasnt his strong point either.
I am planning a machine bench that will have router table, SCMS & hopefully bench drill press with a 14" band saw at one end. I want to run 150mm pipe along the floor behind this and each machine have its own blast gate operated the same as our dear German fiend has designed.
He will not reply to emails and I cannot work out the maths calculations to make the handle cable end ( not the blast gates end)
could someone please help me... love you forever, I'll be your best friend etc etcI would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

what maths do you need ? You've obviously thought through this more than me, so give me a start. (I did OK in maths at school, but agreed with the Uni lecturers to spend more time in the Computer Science labs)

You can buy throttle cable kits where you solder the ends on, so I'd build the components and then fit the cable at one end and cut to length.

I think Tony is hung up on making the self locking/unlocking quadrant. He wants drawings or dimensions of those parts. I feel while neat they are a lot of work that could be accomplished in other ways more easily. A thumb lock much like the hand brake in the car holding against a spring that normally keeps the blast gate closed for example. Or even simpler a detent you slide the leaver over into to lock it open against a spring.

If it's the detent mechanism then I reckon it wouldn't be too hard just to take a stab at it. I reckon there were several if not tens of prototypes to get something that "just worked" like we saw, so reproducing it probably wouldn't need more than half a dozen attempts Get some screen shots and rough out some dimensions from them based on hand / finger sizes and things like the X mm pin he uses in the follower.
