Wheel making help
If I may I would like to ask for some help or advice on wheel making. I have been to our library but there is nothing like what I'm looking for . The photo is one of T/Js new plan's & maybe my next project. I'm not very good at wheel's hence this request for help. Any help would be muchly appreciated.
Thank's & Regard's. Jim

If you can PM a sketch of the wheel you are looking for I may be able to help.

G'Day Jim,
The wheel seems to have the basic's of Brets wheels on his 1982 Scania truck.
Have a look in the Best of the best section...

I hope that's a start.

Wheek's
Kryn & Peter, My sketching is worse than my wheel making, but I appreciate your offer of help. I looked at Bret's Scania re the wheel's, they are more truck than a military style. I have emailed T&J for some info, waiting for a reply. I might have to bite the bullet, order the plan & hope for the best. My wife think's i'm pedantic but I don't want to start somthing that hasn't a reasonable chance of success.
Thank you both for your offer's of help.

Hello Jim
I have no doubt you can build this model and the wheels. More than likely the wheels have a very simple process to make them. Toys and joys have very good plans. Let us know how it goes

Thank you Bret,
You have more confidence in my ability than I have. As you say, it can't
be that hard so I will order the pattern & have a go.
I have nearly finished the Bulldozer that you gave me inspiration for & it
will be posted here shortly.
Regard's Jim.

I agree with Bret.
I reckon that once you check out the plans you'll soon devise a method of making the wheels. In your pic, they look tricky and a bit of a challenge, but also like they'd be fun to make.
The nuts alone will take a while, but I imagine they're made by preparing a length of hex then slicing it into individual nuts.
I'd probably use my Dremel plunge router and shaper table attachments for the tread, with a suitable jig. 3-piece tyres, by the look. (You've got me interested in this one now. Nothing like a good challenge.)
Looking forward to seeing your 'dozer, too.... Steve
