Looks Fantastic Steve. Well Done! This is one of the best if not the best looking Scale models on here. Love the base and sign you mad e for it. Glad to have you back. Is the dust cover made of plastic or glass? I can't tell. I need to make something like this for my train. Do you have something else lined up for the next build?Bret

Thank you all, guys, for the kind words. I actually did it. Had my doubts at times.
Bret, next scale model on the list is a Gatto beetle, partly made. Then I'll continue with my FC sedan plans.
The showcase cover is clear 4.5mm display-grade cast acrylic. (Damned expensive to get made & delivered, too, but I didn't want to condemn my mate's wife to a lifetime of dusting. )
Pete, (_fly_), I didn't make Jack's 85th birthday, it was last Friday so I'm a week late. At the last minute, I decided to add 6 x 10mm tall brass ball feet to the base, but underestimated how long they'd take to get here.
I'm taking it up to Sydney by train tomorrow morning. Been busy all afternoon cleaning, re-waxing and getting it all bundled up for the trip. (Not looking forward to the trip itself though -> taxi from East Nowra to Bomaderry, train to Sutherland, change, train to Miranda, taxi to Taren Point then vice versa. A day's travelling for a couple of hour's visit.)
John, (nine fingers), I agree - definitely looks better out of the cover, but it's great dust protection. The camera made the perspex look less clear than it actually is, though. In reality it's much clearer than glass.
Actually, with the poly on the base and the 8mm sealed groove, it's close to airtight, so rapid humidity changes shouldn't affect it, either, as an unplanned bonus.
Thanks all, for the support along the way, too. I needed it, especially in the early days.
Edit: I should mention that it's a 1928 because that was Jack's, (the recipient's), birth year. Hence the changes from the Gatto 1930 plans to a rear-mounted spare wheel, two small rear bumpers, suspended taillight/number plate bracket etc, in keeping with an original '28.... Steve

Thank you Digger. Just completed the marathon journey - left here at 8.30am, just got back at 7.30pm.
Thanks to Pete, (crowie), I remembered the camera and got a couple of snaps. Jack was speechless when I arrived, since he didn't know about the Roadster.
Despite all the train travel, it was a great day. We managed to spend about 2 hours before I had to turn around and head back. Hadn't seen them for 5 years, so we had a bit to catch up on.
Looks like Santa Claus, I know. For a change, Santa is receiving gifts.: -
