Thread: 1936 Ford

Well have not done a lot since my last update, but have managed to make the dash board, turn a gear stick and get started on the windscreen frame.

A little short on photo's as I can get all three in one shot

OK OK OK I know I have cheated I brought the accessories for the car like the wheels and some other bits.

Anyway managed to get some more glueing done today still have some more bits to add, also the wheels are not glued on yet as I think it will be easier to varnish without them fitted and help prevent them sticking up. Also the windscreen will be the very last piece to be fitted just before the finish is applied, knowing me if I fit it any earlier I will only knock it off.

There's nothing wrong with bought parts in my opinion. I have a bag of headlights that I shamelessly plan to use.

Boy, it's really shaping up now. Looks great. The interior came up well.

I like those wheels, too. - T&J ?

Yes T & J's wheels and accessories.

Well except for the varnishing and wheels glueing (which will be done after finish applied ) the car is complete spent yesterday and today making and fitting some of the fiddly bits most of that was waiting for glue to dry enough to be able to tilt the car to fit other bits.

I will only show a couple of photo's when the varnishing is done which should be in a couple of days or so.

Until then here is the bare car. Can anyone see a mistake I made (NO PRIZES)

Derek, Been watching progress during the build,a great looking model,as for the mistake you have claimed to have made ,could it be the wheel outside the mudguard in the rear view of the car. No other faults. John.

That's easy - the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Very nice Job, the only thing I would want to change , is the fire wall so that there would be a foot well.

Got to be the steering wheel on the left; English & Aussie cars are RIGHT..... did it myself following a set of plans from USA book.....

Thank you one and all, it has been great fun building this model. Well managed to get the varnish early and was able to get to get three coats on during the day. The varnish is a spray on and I did put 2 coats of sealer on yesterday evening so that helped.

Final photo's with the varnish on has not darkened the wood too much. Oh yes the mistake is that the gauges are not central to the steering wheel, the rear wheel sticking out was because they were not glued in at the time and it had only slid out when I turned the model for a different angle. Also re-glued the rear number plate as I managed to knock it off this was a pain super glue did not want to stick it but as soon as I put my fingers together they stuck.

I love the lines - sort of makes me wish I hadn't put the roof on my Roadster.
