Well all the parts are made for the Locomotive. I started on the tender.
Cowcatcher. Its made up of 6 parts. I cut out all the slots on the bandsaw and then filed them to clean them up.

I made some new cab sides. They turned out much better this round.

3/16" holes drilled for corners.

Put them in the vise cut them out with a coping saw and then cleaned them up with a file

If you look at these two photos you can see how the second side in the first pic fits the fire box better and the windows are much cleaner.

Does anybody see anything wrong with this picture. Apparently fileing the top of the center pivot on the front truck does cause some problems. Still working on a solution for this.

Bret, Derek is right. Your rate of progress is amazing.
You make almost a whole train in the time I make one spoked wheel.
Starting to look pretty real.... Steve

Well it has been a while since any updates. I made several parts today for the tender although they are kinda boring it is progress nonetheless.
Here are the parts I made. Front and rear plates, Water tank front and rear plates, mounting blocks, water tank top, Front coal box plate, coal floor, and the front wings.

So the rumours of your death were grossly exaggerated, I guess.
Looking good.... Steve

Yea it was cloak and dagger. Have a busy day today, might get a little time in this afternoon. But tomorrow I think so far my schedule is clean so might get all day in the shop! Only 10 more parts to make for the body of the tender and I can start on the trucks and wheels.

That is a good question Derek. Not sure yet. I have thought about building these two trucks for the boys.

I also need to repair the Log Truck, 48' Ford and the big rig. They have all been played with hard!!!
I also had though about making them some boats for the bathtub.
