    Yup.
    We're more comparable with Canada.
    The 80/20 rule.
80% of our population lives in 20% of our land mass.
    Same as Canada.

Just swap hot desert with cold desert and you got it.
    Oh, and Eucalypts with pines.

There are areas of continental USA that are not habitable, but nowhere near the same % as us.

ETA: Should have said, our similarities are far more pronounced than our differences.
And even the differences are kinda cool.
EG: We've got better beer, but they've got better Bourbon.

Look what you started John. LOL

I think our desert might be going away it has rained for the last 4 days none stop. I think at the moment we have got like 5 inches of rain which is more than we got all year.

I don't mind traveling 2500 miles. It is 500 miles to my hometown in Amarillo up in West Texas. I will just bring the Camaro. Of course I will have to put a bull bar on it.

Yaa for your rain, at last, Goods news Bret.....
As far as doing 2500 miles in Australia, you'd think twice if you saw the highways or lack of them.
Our best highways are about as good as the secondary highways I drove on in New York state, Connecticut & Massachusetts, 3 years back.
While our southern state Victoria has the better roads by the time you get to country Queensland you'll be driving on glorified goat tracks.
On top of the poor roads you'll find very enthusiastic coppers [highway police] & speed camera everywhere to slow down your Camaro.
Oh "gas" is close to US$2 a US Gallon too..
Still looking forward to your vivist one day as you'll have plenty of accommodation.
    Cheers, crowie

Gas is $2 a gallon. Thats awesome. I think I paid $3.89 this weekend when I filled up. Cost me like $42 to fill the Camaro up it only takes premium as does the Caprice and the Volvo. Oh well I guess that is a side effect of powerful V8's.

I do hope I get to come to Australia someday. It is on the list, but there a few vacations and house projects ahead of it. This coming summer we are going to take the boys to Disney World.

You know John I was thinking about the trailer for the Scania. I looked at the plans and its not that hard to build. The next problem would be I would need something to haul on the trailer. Sheeshhh!!!! It never ends. I am plannig on putting up a special shelf just for the Scania hopefully this weekend. Will post pics when done.

Jim we do have some awesome bourbon. I have 2 1.5 Liters of Wild Turkey that belonged to my Grandpa. I only drink them on special occasions.

Aussie that is funny when my wife and I went to Jamaica for our honeymoon the airport was on the top of the country. We had to drive 4.5 hours along the shore of the island to get to the bottom where our resort was. And yes I would want to visit everyone on the WWF.

Sorry Bret, My muckup that should have been US$5 to $6 a US Gallon
[I stuffed up the litres to US gallons]

    We are currently paying A$1.35 to A$1.50 a litre [metric] for 10% Ethanol Unleaded "E91";
Premium is about A$1.80 per Litre in the city but you'll add 20cents a litre in the bush [country].

    Cheers, crowie

PS - You'll have a dozen volenteers to carry your bags to Disney World

Ah now, that's what I'm talking about.
You buy bourbon in 1.5ltr bottles.
That's the definition of a civilised country I tell you.
