Bret ... Replace the word 'blower' with 'gearbox' and you have just solved my problem with the BT19 gearbox.

You are too good to me Bret! I ordered some timber for the chrome parts of the car the other day from crowie's friend. Just waiting for that to arrive before I get started. I now have a good idea of where to start with it though Thanks!

So while I'm waiting for some chrome like timber to be delivered from MapleMan (can't wait!), I thought I would go on with some of the detail on the inside of the cab and the tray. Attached are some progress shots on this. For the internal detail, I mainly used various types of marquetry timbers aquired from a boat builder in the UK (ebay ). I am back to work now, so progress is a little slow, but I have managed to get most of the internals done with only the steering wheel and pedals to put in.

I've also cut and glued the tray piece in which will be covered with a black (possibly wenge I think) marquetry veneer I have to simulate the heavy black rubber the original has installed in it.

I'm thinking at this stage that I might install little magnets in the cab roof, the tray cover and the bonnet so they can all be lifted off to see the detail inside and then kinda snapped back into place with the magnets... what does everyone think of that idea? Or should I just make some timber hinges on the front and glue the cab roof down? Can't decide what would look the best...

I like the idea of the magnets mind if I use it on my Packard? build is looking great. CD.

Of course not CD! I was looking at the rare earch disc magnets from magnets.com.au. Seem quite reasonably priced and have a very large range... was thinking of picking up a few different types and trying them out before I jump in to a full set of one type.

For those who were asking, I have been able to get a photo from my brother in law which details the engine nicely. I have also found a photo online which is pretty close to the setup my father-in-law has. I will be starting on the engine pretty soon and for the start of it will be following Bret's lovely WIP build photos before vereing off into blower components

Just passing and saw the lights on so I thought I'd drop in. Found a little space in the back for my comfy chair. I don't eat much.

Somehow I missed the beginning of this, Geoff, but I'm looking forward to the rest of the build. Looking great so far.

If I'd stuck my head in a bit earlier, I would have suggested Silver Ash for the chrome bits, but I guess it's a bit late now.

I like the idea of the magnets - wish I'd thought of it on my last build, to lift the roof and view the interior. I put a bit of work into the interior, but it was almost invisible with the roof on.

Keep up the good work.

This is Silver Ash - it's fairly white for a chrome substitute. (That's what I keep it for.):

I'm not sure what you have coming from MapleMan, but if this is whiter, I could give you a piece if you like. I have some spare, 400mm long, 75mm wide, 24mm thick. Just sing out.

I have to say how impressed I am with the quality of workmanship AND the absolute willingness to give advice, plans, timber or whatever to anyone who requests! It is very rare to find a forum (or anywhere else for that matter) those two traits in such abundance as I have found here.

From Bret donating time and plans to help me out with the engine, to MapleMan and his range of awesome timbers and Hermit with his 'Chromewood', I just wanted to convey my gratitude to everyone who has helped me out so far on this project!

I will endeavour to pay your kindness forward to anyone else who can benifit from something I may have in the future (God willing!).
