What's going to happen to the pine prototype when you move on to the final version? A toy for the boys?
Not sure yet Steve. Hopefully it will come out looking good.

    Sorry Peter,

I was able to get the outside of the body shaped correctly but I have no idea how to go about thinning the inside out to make it realistic. I am going to have to figure out a different approach to making the body. As a result I have shelved it for the time being. But I have made leaps and bounds of progress on the 64' so I thought I would show that.

I blasted the frame and 2 coats of primer and paint.

Also have all the supsension parts blasted and painted. Just finished the rear axle. Hope to start reassembling everything tomorrow.

Looking good Bret. You're doing a top-notch job of the restoration. You must be dying to start re-assembly by now.

Default Saw Dust On The Floor....

G'Day Bret, There is saw dust on the floor....That's not up to your usual high standard to cleanliness........

Your boys are on summer break so I'd have expected them to be under your feet in the workshop and if my memory serves me right, one is very good with a dustpan & broom........

Come on Bret, let the boys earn some extra pocket money........

OH - sorry the diff banjo is looking good; you put so much time and effort into beautiful detail, well done...

    Cheers, Peter

    Bret,

What a great job you are doing on the beloved Ford.

Your workshop looks immaculate. How long do you reckon you will be on the Ford before you get onto the locomotive.

I love Fords and locomotives !!!

Good to see you back in the wood workshop and continuing on with the Ford. The axle looks like it is beech and has certainly a top standard as normal.

As for the saw dust some of those machine certainly can produce loads which means that clean up can take as long as the preparation of the wood.

Thank You Peter. Ryan has come out to the shop a few times but they are busy on their Nintendos and playing Lego.

Thanks Keith. I thought I would give the Ford a stab before starting the the train. I fell guilty I started it and never finished. I have brainstormed some new ideas on how to make the body versus my first try. So I plan to get a rolling chassis and then build the firewall and floor board and then give the body another go around.

Thank You Derek. The wood is actually Hard Maple. Very similar to Beech in color.

Worked several hours on the rear axle today. Still not finished but made good progress.

Sanded and shaped the back piece I glued on. Still not how I want it to look. Will make another piece to glue on and feather.

Started on the 3rd member dropout center. Found some really good dimensional drawings on google. A front view and a side view.

Cut the backing plate from some .60 I had milled.

Made the ring gear bump out and started cutting and gluing gussets on.

Pinion cover plate made and mocked everything up. Still have several more gusset plates to make.
