Bugatti for the vintage car enthusiasts
1929 Bugatti Type 35c, one of the great Grand Prix cars of the late 20s early 30s.
I/8th scale , the wheels were two sections of alloy joined together with 24 bolts.
Photos of Dremel used to cut out the sections of the wheels, and chassis views.
Next to do, motor (straight 8. 2 litre supercharged) gear box and tail shaft. cheers John.

Looks awesome John! Could you explain more about how your dremel setup works. The results you got from using it are fantastic. Thanks for the inspiration. Have to get the suspension started on my 32' now.

Bret, The nut from the Dremel I held in the metal lathe and turned the end to receive a 60 mm diam x 6mm MDF disc to act as the base of the router.
Each wheel half was held in position on the base of the jig, the hinged top section had 2 cleats to hold the wheel firmly in position.
The shape of the pattern required much try and error before I had the shape required.
A hole was drilled in the wheel to receive the 3mm router bit to start the pattern. cheers John.

John will love to see this one.
I walked out on a fellow who wanted a restoration done on one back in the mid 70's he also wanted a copy with VW 1600 motor, they were not the reason I walked out.

Had a couple of days in hospital, an old mans problem, now back on the bench. A motor mock up, straight 8, over head cam, super charged, radiator , permanent ink pen to set out the grill,
too small to do anything else with. until next time cheers John.

Feeling pretty good today, the sun was shining ,rain has disappeared for a few days. Got about 5 hours on the Bugatti. Got started on the body work. Had a visit to Bunnings, purchased a Ryobi power file belt sander,just the thing for shaping the under side of bonnet. As there are no plans for this model, a lot of trial and error to work out how to go about each part of construction.
A couple of photos of todays work, heaps of sanding after the remaining body parts go on. cheers John.
