Hi Bret .... To be honest mate, if I ever reach your standard I will be more than happy. Your Freight Train is STUNNING. I have printed it out and shown it to my mate. He is a 'O' gauge nutcase, lives, breathes and talks steam. ... He has passed it on to all his fellow club members. Awesome !!!!!

So ... you set a standard .. an I am gunna try and reach it ... HaaHaa

My liddle shed will be finished this weekend and I will post the pics.

As well ... my second project .... a WIP this time ... maybe I have bitten off more than I can chew, I have been on the engine now for months .... I will start to post pics soon in a new thread.

Thanx for kind words ... Greg

This is the engine I am working on. It is a 'Repco BT620 V8'. (REPCO .. Replacement Parts Company ... is an Australian Company and in 1966 this engine drove this car to the Formula One World championship) But in this picture the engine has been detuned, as the car is historic. The engine I am building will have (OMG ... Hopefully have ...) Tuned extractors unlike these which are not tuned.

I am about 60% complete on the engine ... Gearbox not included. But the engine will be inside the vehicle and unfortunately not seen ... So ... I have constructed mine as a V16 and when the gearbox an all fittings on .. Then I will cut it in half and have 2 V8s .. Haahaa .. One for inside the cowling and one on a stand outside ... Whew .. Am I making sense ?

The vehicle overall is one sixth scale, but I have no plans, just pictures and line drawings off the internet. The engine is about a 100mm cube in size (4 inch)

But it is driving me crazy .. So far I have the V16 block, rocker covers, half the injectors, spark plugs complete ... So much to go. I have one tie-rod made 5mm (just so I know it is possible to build a 5mm tie-rod and retain strength. The suspension will be operational) ... And I have the racing shell made, but not yet hollowed out ... Sigh ... As well I am making many jigs to wheel align and assemble. All of this is in Amoora hardwood .. Its a neutral grain as I don't want the timber to overpower the 'vehicle'

My working brief is to be not more than 0.5mm out on any measurement.

It is a massive project and I have no idea if it is possible yet. (To make it worse I don't possess a single wood working tool ... So funny)

    image.jpg

Will start a thread on this as soon as I have enough to even call it a WIP ... Haahaa

cool bananas ... And will reply to your PM after this post ... Greg.

(Bret ... Ta for your interest an support .. Means a lot cuz I have no idea where I'm going with this)

Greg can you post pictures of what you have complete it sounds interesting. The engine I built for the scania was about 5" long 3" high and 3" tall but it was 1/10 scale. So 4 " sounds about right for yours

A well carved boat like the detail and finish especially as you made it from memory. Look forward to the engine when you post it.

Hi Greg, when I first saw it, I thought it was put in the wrong section as it looks like a real boat. That is exceptional craftmanship you did. You should be real proud it.
