Thread: MG TC 1947--49 1/8 scale

Very nice work John, (as always). I love it.
Those wheels came up a treat, and I really like the detail in the dashboard and running gear.

I have an MGB on the list, but God only knows when I'll get around to it. I had one when I was a young bloke, a '67. Horrible little car. At anything over about 30mph, it whistled deafeningly from air leaks around the roof. I wasn't that keen on the seating position either, almost laying down. Great chick magnet though.

Well then Nine fingers there was me ready in my chair just sitting here waiting for a nice long build after seeing the great wheel assembly and you then go and spoil it for me by posting the complete model.

The finished car looks absolutely fantastic well done and look forward to some more

THATS THE BEST THING I'VE SEEN FOR A WHILE - THE CONTRASTING TIMBER TONES REALLY MAKE IT STAND OUT.IS IT SCRATCH BUILT OR FROM A PLAN ?.VERY IMPRESSED.

That is GREAT work - I love the detail that you have.

Up here in the US, you don't see many MGs, so I would like to have a go at making one like yours.

Where did you get your plans or are they your own?

Anything you would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated.

I am most curious as to how you make the hinges for the opening doors and hood. That is one thing I dislike about the Toys & Joys models is the plans don't have opening doors and hood and I think that would really improve their models. I keep coming back to look at yours but I haven't figured it out yet.

I am stunned by "getting around to starting" in March, getting Artme's undivided attention for an impending WIP also in March .... and completion in April!

Beautiful work as usual but I'm afraid that if I was to do it I would have made a TD with steel wheels!

We all agree you are one very special and talented "MASTER CRAFTSMAN" who has an eye for scale and detail like none other.
A HUGE THANK YOU for sharing your creations as a "scratch builder" with the rest of us, personally I am in awe of your work and appreciate it heaps.

This reply to BigDBigD, PLD, and Fletty, I search the internet until I found a site that showed the side, front and rear views of the MG, they were printed out and I scaled them up to get the 1/8 scale for my drawings.
The plans were very basic , no detail only the shape and size. I also found a site that gave all measurements and plans of the chassis. During construction ,regular visits to the MG web site for finer details.
PLD, I will try and get you detail on the hinge construction I use, at the moment I'm can't upload photos to this site .
Fletty, NO more models with spoked wheels, just plain steel wheels on a 41 model , maybe.
I have had no trouble uploading photos before , but today no go, I can't work out why. cheers John.

Nine Fingers, have you ever tried this site for blue prints and drawings. I am not sure exactly how it works but I have looked at a lot of drawings it has to offer.

PLD Here's a couple of photos of the hinges, now the photos are working for me , I'll make some sketches of the construction of them . John.
