Default my model of my Frankenstein trestle

Hey friends. I thought I would put one of my projects I made 2 years ago with some history to go with it if you don't mind. Up in the mountains, a few miles from where i live, there's a place called Crawford Notch. It's a steep winding road with big mountains and high cliffs on both sides of the road. The mountains are thousands of feet high. This is my favorite place. I go there when i need time alone. In the late 1800`s they built a railroad on the side of that Notch for a freight train service, and there was a deep ravine to go through, so they built a trestle bridge 500 feet long to get by. On the side of that train trestle there are big cliffs. There's an Artist who went up those cliffs around the time they were building the R R, and his last name was Frankenstein. So they named the cliffs and the trestle after him. It was always a dream of mine to build a model of that trestle, and after many pictures and sketching, I finaly got going and got that dream done. I also made the replica of the exact steam engine they used in that time. I have some pictures of what the trestle looked like and a picture of the model I made.
Hope i did not bore you with my story and hope you enjoy this project of mine. Thanks

Not boring. Great model, both of the train and the bridge.
Too many projects, so little time, even less money!

Hornpout what a great story and model. Do you still have this model? If you do can you put more shots of the train. It is very interesting. I can't believe you just built this from scratch wow!

Hornpout..all the work you've posted here so far is just amazing!! And this trestle and train is just awesome!! Definitely want to see more of your work!! And I for one really like your painted models!! And especially building from scratch. Do you just work from photos or do you find real life examples and take measurements and such?? Curious as to your methods.

Keep up the good work and show us more!! Please!!

    Thumbs up

Trouble deciding whether I like the story or the model better. Both are fascinating!!!

Those sort of trestle bridges were a feature of American railways and they have always held a fascination for me. A great example of the application of simple, but effective, engeneering principles based on geometric shapes.

You are surely a very talented craftsmen "hornpout".
The train, tender & carriage are excellent then on the trestle bridge all built by yourself.
The local history story makes the toy even more special.
Very well done and great paint work, yet again.
    Cheers, crowie
