The MRAP Cougar. A Toy's and Joy's Pattern. A WIP
The MRAP Cougar is an a Armoured American Military Vehicle used in Afganistan.{ Mine Resistant Ambush Proof. }
I have decided to make this model completly out of camphor laurel.
These piece's show some of the timber I have cut for the bodywork.
First pic, the tyre's are 3 piece, a centre & 2 side's with tread. Next the jig for cutting the tread & then the tyre's cut out
fot the rim. Last pic is the wheel recessed but not cut out because of a lack of the right size holesaw.
The tyre's will be ebonised for effect.
I think the camphor will look most effective or completly wrong. Only time will tell.

The MRAP Cougar
Thank's for all the compliment's, I hope I can live up to your expectation's. I enjoy working with timber & do the best I can with with Iv'e got.
I believe in do it once & do it right ,although that does not alway's happen. With that out of the way, my wife's relative's turned up today & made me cook
snag's on the bbq & drink beer. So I only got some ebonising done on the tyre's. They will darken slightly with some polyurehane hopefully.
This being summer & many yard duty's to attend to this will be a slow Wip.
Many Thank's & Regard's, Jim

The MRAP Cougar
The ebonising solution is giving me all sort's of grief so I have tipped it out & Iam starting again. Tyre's were ok but the centre's were sh#$%t.
While that is brewing I have started on the chassis, but no pic's today.
Maybe tomorrow if all go's well.

The MRAP Cougar
Welcome aboard John, If this project turn's out half as good as your Roller I will be a very happy man.
From the top, a transfer or cut & paste, as in intarsia to put your pattern onto the timber. these 4 piece's will
be the front & rear suspension. Next two are the jig's to ensure the tyre's are round & also to put a chamfer on the tyre.
I did not think the ebonising would be deep enough to last on the sander so, an eboniser in a tube might be the answer.
The chassis is shown upside down to show the angle's for the bomb deflection. It will be much clearer as this project
progesses. Last is the seat's & centre console made out of ebony.
Cheer's Jim.

Wow Jim, There sure are a lot of angles on the upside down base, well done.
Are you going to redo the wheels or leave them with the muddy look?
Keep up the good work.
Cheers, crowie
