Thread: Replica Scale Model Aussie Houses

Over the years I have had a," play around, " with designing realistic Aussie Buildings, and structures set to 1:32 scale for G-scale railways, or even for collectors of the interesting, & unusual. To date have come up with two house designs, and an old stone Buggy shed complete with attached stone watertank. Although I made the first one in 1:24 scale, everyone I spoke too, recommended I set my scale to 1:32 for garden railways, which apparently fits in better with the engines, rolling stock, & tracks, etc !!! ( Perhaps some reader can explain this to me more clearly. ).
Both houses are based on the real ones;- the first being a replica scale model of my great-great-grandparents old gable-roofed farm cottage, built about 1860, and is still standing, 5km from Yorketown, South Australia. the Model is complete with the stone watertank, and the backyard dunny.
The second replica scale model I have designed is of an old flat-roofed cottage, built about 1880, near Edithburgh, South australia,- and also has the usual stone watertank, & backyard dunny included. The walls are constructed from timber,- while for a realistic roofing material I used corrugated cardboard, which is sealed with several coats of Acrylic house paint. To obtain a stone-look appearance on the walls, I used another commercially-available product called, " Stone Finish," which is made by Wattly Paints Australia, as part of their, Solagard range, and is available in 500Ml tins, which can be tinted to whatever colour you require.
I am beginning to receive a few enquiries for these types of building plans, via a Product Info editorial I had in the Aussie Woodworker mag some months ago, therefore anyone who would be keenly interested in seeing / buying suitable Aussie Buildings, Structures, maybe even background ideas for their G-scale Railway /s,- such as landscapes, towns, seaports, etc., etc.,- well I think you get the picture,- nothing is impossible,- just require helpful information from readers as to what they seek, or would like to buy, or even experiment with in their own backyards.
Now please don't ," jump up, & down, Mr / Mrs Moderator, "- I am NOT trying to sell anything here, simply showing site readers what I have experimented with to date, with the hope that others may chip in with their ideas as per suitable Aussie-Designed, & Made Building, Structures, etc., for G-Scale Railways.
By the way,- there's nothing wrong with a bit of, " Horse-trading," if one gets the drift !!
