After the wheel's are to size we router both outer edge's & then mark the back of each wheel at 22 1/2 degrees as per the plan. Set the blade on table saw to cut at 3/16" & your mitre gauge at 65 degrees right. This is mounted to a jig as described in the plan's & with the marks on the wheel aligned with the mark on the jig slide it over the blade to complete all the cut's. Now change the mitre gauge to 65 degrees left & cut the other side to finish the tread's. Next step is to cut with a forstner bit a 1-1/2" hole in the outer wheel. Take care here as wheel's are r/h & l/h because of tread direction. Router the 1-1/2" hole & we now have six pair's of r/h & l/h wheel's. Justin's wheel's were not cut because we do not know if he may be needed on the right or left side. All that is needed now is to glue them together & a final sand & that job's done.Then we start the assembly Cheer's Jim.

Yes, thanks, I have been wondering how the treads in those wheel were done. Nice little jig you made.

The assembly has started. The first two pic's are most of the bit's after sanding & shaping before assembly. There are still a few small parts to make, these will be done as the build progresses. The rest are various piece's in situ & the last is the engine compartment & grill with holes for all the grab handle's & air cleaner. Cheer's Jim.

Next is the cab clamped, a couple of wheel's with the first coat of poly, the engine compartment & then some of the smaller part's on a wire after their coat of poly. Cheer's Jim.

The Road Grader is Finished. The build took approx 43 hrs in the shed, It is built out of Australian Red Cedar except for the grill, which is silver ash & rosewood. It is finished in Estapol polyurethane satin & is about 25" long. Thanks to everybody who came along for the build & all your kind comment's. Cheer's Jim.ps. another one coming soon !

J&J, that really came out beautiful. The cedar looks just like mahogany. Great attention to the details, I notice you even blackened the "inside" of the exhaust stack. What did you use for the black rails on the back?
